The spiritual significance of the color of that dress

As far as I see it (but not eye see it) we are all “correct” in our individual perceptions of the color of the dress. Some of us see black/blue, and some of us see white/gold.  Sure, the dress itself has been found out to actually be black/blue, but that does not change mine or other people’s perceptions of the picture of the dress being white/gold.  In fact, some online surveys have shown a majority of respondents see white/gold.  And it appears that most of us cannot switch back and forth in our perceptions of this so-called “optical illusion” like we can do with the infamous “spinning dancer” illusion.   So how can both sides be right?

The scientific explanation as offered by Adam Rogers of “Wired” is that your brain “figures out what color light is bouncing off the real thing your eyes are looking at, and essentially subtracts that color from the “real” color of the object.”  In other words, your brain tries to interpolate a color context for the dress, and then spits out an answer.  Adam ends the article by stating that  “the people who see the dress as white are utterly, completely wrong.”   And this is his scientific explanation – that some people’s visual processing systems, including mine, don’t work right, or see the world the wrong way, according to science.

But what if science cannot explain this phenomenon?  What if there is a perspective outside of the scientific paradigm that could explain it more accurately?  Instead of the white/gold seers being “wrong,” is it possible that both sides of the debate are correct?  In other words, is it possible that both team black/blue and white/gold are seeing completely different versions of reality?  If this is true, this could expose what some hilariously deem “a glitch in the matrix,” or as I call it, “differentiated dimensional awareness.”

Quantum mechanics and string theory have long been exploring the possibility and probability of many dimensions existing, with a commonly cited number being ten.   But even though scientists have explored this notion of a multi-dimensional universe for quite a while, the collective consciousness (the common man) has not yet integrated this knowledge into every day life.   For example, most people do not think of time passing as being a phenomenon of a fourth dimension, even though the new science points to that being the case.

One way that the common man does experience other-dimensional awareness, though, is through the use of psychedelics.  I am reminded of my friend telling me about his psilocybin (magic mushroom) trip in the redwoods of northern California.  He passionately described how, as the drug kicked in, he and his friend both simultaneously started seeing the entire forest in purple, as though they had put on purple tinted glasses.   My explanation for this phenomenon, and other hallucinatory effects of psychedelics, is that the people on them are suddenly catapulted into other dimensions (that all exist in and around the 3rd dimension), and are able to see the world from a dimensional perspective higher than the third, until the drug wears off.  These drugs, in my experience, may also open the doorway to seeing light frequencies outside of the normal human range; ultraviolet, infrared, etc.    After all, many species of bird and bee navigate using UV rays, why should other animals, such as humans, not have this capability.   Or, at least, evolve it?

Terrence McKenna, psychedelic researcher and philosopher, argues that the incredibly fast mental development of early man, allowing for the invention of tools and the like, was spurred by individuals consuming psychadelics/hallucinogens, namely, magic mushrooms.  This is the “stoned ape theory,” long debated by stoners but yet to be the subject of common discussion.  In my own psychedelic experience and research, I have found true this notion of rapid cognitive development during and following psychedelic experience, which has “opened my mind” to multi-dimensional living.  I now see the world in brighter colors, I can see auras, walls and floors swirl and breathe, and I can feel the emotions of others even when I am across the country and not in contact with them.

Many people hear about my newfound multi-dimensional life experience and quickly dismiss it as me “losing my mind.”  And I fully acknowledge that I may in fact be “losing my mind,” but I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing.  Losing parts of my practiced patterns of perception could give space for newer, more advanced patterns of perception to emerge.  And this is exactly what has been happening as I have pursued with dogged resilience a path of mental, physical, and spiritual advancement.  Every day, I pledge to resolve karmic cycles, learn my lessons, and improve as a person and spiritual being.

When I saw the “what color is this dress” debate occurring on the internet, I immediately dismissed it.  I saw white and gold as clear as day, and assumed that anyone who saw it as black and blue was simply trolling, as people are wont to do on the internet.  However, when I went in to work and my coworker asked me if I had heard about the dress phenomenon, and then proceeded to tell me that he was positive the dress was black/blue, I started laughing, amazed that there were actually people who saw black/blue.  Just like Adam Rogers at Wired couldn’t believe any sane person could see white/gold, I couldn’t believe any sane person could see black/blue.

And then, suddenly, the explanation came to me.  My coworker and I were both right!  We are simply experiencing reality from different dimensional perspectives.  For example, if my coworker and I were to look at a wall, I might see the wall as swirling and breathing, and he might never see that occur at all.  Or if it was occurring, he may not notice it regardless.  As a further example, I often see a gold overlay over reality, and when I have asked other people if they are seeing a street, for example, as covered in gold, they give me a definitive no.  And I only started seeing this gold overlay and the swirling/breathing walls after I had experienced the hallucinatory effects of certain psychadelics.

Therefore my theory is that my psychedelic experience opened up extra-dimensional perspectives (outside of the current scientific paradigm) that allowed me to see the world in a different way, and thereby allowed me to see the dress as white/gold whereas before this psychedelic experience I may well have seen it as black/blue.   Another coworker, who also saw black/blue, said in his broken English that he had heard that people who see black/blue are more stressed or unhappy, and people that see white/gold are more at ease and happy.  Keep in mind he said this even though he himself admitted to seeing black/blue.  He said he believed you could change your perception depending on your mood.  This struck me as fascinating, and spurred a final insight.

After my eyes were opened, so to speak, by my spiritual and psychedelic multi-dimensional experiences, I began to be less and less stressed by the minor things that had so bothered me in my life thus far.  Things like work, relationships, money, etc started affecting me less and less in a negative way.  As I traveled through other dimensions I became aware that the physical reality of our 3D world is not of primary importance.  Rather, it is more like a hologram that reflects what is happening in the higher dimensions.

When I first was able to see my own aura, I recognized it as indigo.  This was at a time when I was not sure yet if I really was becoming enlightened, or if I was just going crazy.  I had a lot of doubt about whether there were other dimensions, whether there was a higher intelligence, etc.  When I researched the meaning of an indigo aura, I stumbled across the New-Age belief that many of the humans who have incarnated since the late 80s and 90s have been “Indigo Children,” spiritually advanced beings who nonetheless have karmic hurdles to overcome.

As I followed through with my spiritual development, I noticed these Indigo-Child doubts and lack of self worth begin to diminish slowly but surely.  One fateful night after a tumult of synchronicities and inter-dimensional travel, I looked again at my aura and noticed it was now white or gold.  When I looked into the significance of a white or gold aura, I ran across the next evolution of Indigo Children, called “Crystal” or “Rainbow Children.”  According to new-age beliefs, most children who have been born/incarnated in this millennium are Crystal Children, with white or gold auras, who often have less doubt of their spiritual abilities than the Indigoes.

To sum everything up, I believe that this dress actually did expose a “glitch in the matrix.”  Being that we have collectively lost our abilities to see our own or other people’s auras, this “what color is this dress” phenomenon may be a synchronicity that allows us this ability.  By knowing if we are more Indigo or Crystal, we therefore have a pointer, a signpost along the journey, that shows us how far we’ve come, and how far we have to go.  In this sense, maybe my other coworker was right in a way, to ascertain that those who see black/blue are more stressed or unhappy than those who see white/gold.  But this is not something to feel bad about.  After all, Taylor Swift, Kanye, and Justin Bieber all see black and blue, and it seems to me like the three of them are doing all right.   And no surprise that Kim Kardashian sees gold.
